Probe Opens in Isbele Murder Case At Court House
Grand jury met Monday naming T. J. Robbins foreman and opened the investigation into the murder of Truston Isbell at the Little Plant mine. Over ninety witnesses have been subpoenaed and the probe may extend to today. Ira Medley of Jefferson Township is held for trial and an indictment will be returned this week.

Aged Woman Dies in Cass Township
Mrs. Zinnabi Steel dies Monday at age 4 at grandson Hosea Steel’s Cass township home after a brief illness. Funeral at 11 a m conducted by Rev W Ajee of First Presbyterian. She leaves two sisters Mrs Nancy Turman and Mrs Sarah Silvers and was mother to two deceased children.

Oil Wells Reported In Curry and Fairbanks Townships
In Curry township a well on the Chauncey Douglas farm reached 450 feet with 35 feet of oil sand. A Riggs and others well on the Frank Sanders farm near the city is shot and expected to be a small producer. Wade lease No. 2, Bays and others own a well shot Friday producing about 200 barrels daily. No. 1 yields about 50 barrels. In Fairbanks township a James Osborn farm well drilled last week was a non-producer after reaching 925 feet.

Shelburn Mine Caves In Forcing Possible Closure
The old Shelburn mine on vein No. 5 caved in late yesterday afternoon. Props broke and tracks were buried, reducing workable space to about ten men. About five and a half acres collapsed amid ongoing gas problems.

Rabies scare ends as dog found not rabid
Last week a stray dog scratched Marjorie Steel, daughter of Mr and Mrs Herbert Steel of this city. The dog head was sent to Indianapolis state laboratory where rabies was suspected. Analysis showed distemper, making Pasteur treatment unnecessary.
