Civil War Veteran Richard Hardesty Dies in Sullivan
Richard Hardesty a Sullivan county resident and Civil War veteran of Company A 85th Indiana Volunteer Infantry died at his North Section street home after years of illness. Born in Ohio April 11 1830 he was nearly 79. He lived in the county since 1850 and earlier ran a meat market and poultry business. He served with credit and became second lieutenant before mustering out. He is survived by his wife a daughter Lulu a brother James Hardesty Vincennes and a sister Mrs Sarah Mansfield Ohio. Funeral at his residence with Rev. Geo H Murphy of the M E church officiating with interment at Center Ridge cemetery.
