New Lebanon road worker Kaiser Chris receives the county’s top award for October, recognizing significant service on road projects last month. The honor highlights his contributions to local infrastructure and safety improvements in the area.
County commissioners reviewed November session finances with $7,668.56 paid to Dailey’s road crew and $11,716.48 worth of roads completed in October.Other expenses included bridge costs $399.56 and various services totaling $23,391.92 for the period.
A Washington Herald report quotes Charles Cullop denying knowledge of any move toward a recount or contest of the election in which he was defeated. The piece notes Democratic governors and strategists in the Second district discuss a possible recount amid alleged vote discrepancies involving Bland and other Republicans.

A fatal cattle disease known as Black Leg was found in John Alsop's herd in Cass township near the city. Dr. Golden Webb investigated and reported three cattle died and two more were affected. Calves and yearlings are most at risk while vaccination is the preventive measure and the rest of the herd was treated with a toxin.
Sullivan county reports early sown wheat badly infested with Hessian fly reducing the crop. Later sown wheat shows no infestation. F L Wright, the county vocational agent, surveyed fields and spoke at Pax ton on the county agent’s school work. C Henry joined Wright to review the county’s agricultural situation and cooperation with farmers.
The annual charity recital by Mrs Ralph Warren Cadwell’s pupils will be at Cadwell recital hall next Friday at eight o clock. Tickets cost twenty five cents and proceeds fund Christmas baskets for names submitted by the class. A marriage license was issued in Terre Haute on Monday to H. D. Mergon G. Colvin, 63, decorator, and Rinda Colvin, 46, both of Sullivan.
Dugger, Nov 21. Prospects in the Dugger coal fields look bright for a long season of prosperity as new mines near Vandalia and Gould are planned as 3,000 ton daily capacity operations. Vandalia officials say they need 85 to 100 more men now and aim to open a mine south of the recent shaft with 3,000 ton capacity. The strikes would employ 1,000 to 1,200 more workers next year, with others projected.

Tom Sharpe has sold his coal mine east of Farmersburg to W. H. Bledsoe of Terre Haute. The new owner is hauling the output to the nearby switch and shipping it.
Hon. Carl J. Wilde of Evansville will deliver the obituary and lead the Sullivan lodge memorial exercises at the Elks home Sunday afternoon December 3. A special musical program will accompany the service as lodges nationwide observe the memorial day for deceased members.
Five miners were injured when a gas explosion rocked the Woolley mine main entry in Paxton last Wednesday morning. Walter Asbury suffered severe burns to the back and head, J P White burned on hands and feet, Had Watson had a skull fracture, Jim Innes bruised and cut, and John Moore cut and bruised. State inspectors ruled the mine safe after inspection, and work resumed Friday.
The petit jurors for the November term of the circuit court have been drawn and will report Monday December 5. William A. Cullop filed a statement with the House clerk reporting spending of $1,040 in his bid for Congress. He lists a single contribution of $200 from the Woman's National Democratic League, of which Mrs. Cullop is president.
Herman McKinley of this city was injured last week while employed by Clinton Electric Light Company. He fell thirty five feet while hoisting a transformer. a strap snapped and he sustained a sprained ankle.
Sullivan's 1914 city election will name a mayor, three ward councilmen, two at large, and a city clerk. Mayor Calvert cannot seek consecutive re election, leaving the Democratic ticket to field a candidate while Republicans may contest the nomination. A March primary may be held unless laws change during the coming session in Indianapolis.

The Wo man s Club of this city held its annual banquet at the Davis hotel with husbands of members as honored guests. Joe S. Reed managed the hotel kitchen for a sumptuous menu. The program featured Invocation by Rev. Albert Nichols Welcome by Mrs. J. H. Kalley a toast by C. H. Stratton on We're For Yo My Conversion by O. B. Harris and entertainer Howard W. D. Tooley.
