Shelburne November 24 Isaiah Wilson 72 a itinerant teamster living alone in a Currysville tent died by his own hand this afternoon. He fastened a rope to the tent center pole stood on a chair and kicked it away. A brother in Illinois is his only known relative. Funeral set for Monday at 10 AM.

Conductor Injured as Freight Train Stops at Dugger

A quarrel over sixty cents at Otis Davis' saloon in Midland led to the fatal shotgun blast of 45 year old W. A. Watson by 72 year old Louis Shuley, a coal miner. Shuley then coerced others for money before vanishing, with a posse guarding the Tower Hill mine and doctors rushing Watson to hospital.

Dugg Nov 28 Joseph Floyd a miner at the Sunflower mine was struck by slate in a Saturday accident. He suffered injuries to the chest back hips and legs but no bones were broken and no internal injuries. He will be laid up about two weeks with Dr C M Lowder in attendance.

Fire Threatens Laurel Bennetts House and Local Deaths
Laurel Bennett and his family barely escaped a house fire caused by the grate on Saturday night. Bennett smothered the flames with bed clothing but suffered burned feet and smoke damage. Nearby, Elijah Lloyd, a longtime county farmer, died at home aged 77 and was buried at Prairie Creek cemetery after a funeral held Friday. Jack Johns, son of S J Johns, died of consumption and on Tuesday his funeral was held at the Methodist church with interment at Ebe nezer cemetery. he belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Captain Jesse Haddon Dies at Home in Carlisle
Captain Jesse Haddon a prominent Haddon township farmer and former Civil War captain died Monday morning at his home three miles east of Carlisle after a ten day pneumonia illness. He served in Co. D 21st Indiana and was wounded in battle. A large landowner known for horse raising, he was a Republican and active in county politics. Also reported a murder at Jackson Hill where James Hoole, 33, a miner, died from razor wounds after a fight with Jake Hays Will Collins and James Vaughn on November 16. assailants fled to Kentucky leaving Hoole's wife to pack. A $110 bounty was offered and miners raised funds for Hoole's family. Funeral held Monday at Jackson Hill with large turnout.

Engineer Sustains Serious Injuries In Railroad Crash
George Rowe age 49 of Mattoon Illinois an engineer for C D Smith construction on the Indianapolis Southern rail line east of here was badly hurt in a rear end collision Saturday evening. His left leg was crushed possibly to be amputated. The wreck stemmed from a misread order. He was taken to Union Hospital in Terre Haute by interurban car.

Farmersburg Eagles Lodge Suspended and Members Transfer
The Farmersburg aerie of the Eagles has suspended and the lodge charter forfeited to M. A. Haddon, district deputy for the grand lodge. About sixty in good standing moved their membership to the Sullivan aerie, making Sullivan one of the city's largest fraternal organizations. The Sullivan lodge has leased the new third story addition to the National Bank building under construction.
