Hero of World War Rested at Home in Sullivan County
Immense crowd gathers at Little Flock church to honor Corporal Winfield G. Jewell of West Shelburn. Jewell, a 1904 regular army veteran who served on the Mexican border and in France with Co. M 23rd Infantry, was killed July 19 1918 at the battle of Soussons and laid to rest at Little Flock Cemetery with a military burial by the Fairbanks Post American Legion.

Shelburn Man Arrested on Receiving Stolen Property Charge
Ed Standifur, 36, of Shelburn Indiana, was arrested by a U S Marshal on a federal warrant accusing him of receiving property stolen in transit. He appeared before U S Commissioner Clyde R Randel for a preliminary hearing, waived examination, and bond was set at 2500 which he did not post. He is alleged to have received a Dodge touring car that was stolen.
