Indiana announces new motor vehicle headlight regulations to improve night safety. The rules require deflecting devices, proper candle power, proper focus, and tilt of beams. Enforcement begins thirty days from announcement with cooperation from the Hoosier State Automobile Association and Indiana Automotive Trade Association.

Death of Pioneer Colored Resident Hannah Bass
Mrs. Hannah A. Bass of Sullivan, aged about 84, died last night at North Main Street home after a weeklong illness. Funeral Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church, with Rev. Sumwalt and possibly Rev. J. H. Carnes officiating. She joined the local Methodist church in 1867, married Jethro W. Bass in Carlisle in 1861, and lived in Sullivan since 1867. Survivors include sons Charles, John, and Gus Bass. daughters E. R. Clark of Terre Haute and Mrs. Troy Porter of Paris, Ill.. a niece Mrs. Stella Forrest of Kokomo.

Woman's Club holds annual banquet at Stratton home
The Woman's Club of this city held its annual dinner last night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Stratton on West Washington Street. Fifty-six members and guests attended a three course turkey dinner served in the parlors with purple and white hooded candle decorations. President Mrs. Justine Barco gave the welcome, with A. G. McNabb replying. A burlesque sketch featuring club members provided post dinner entertainment.

New Rural Route Created for Fairbanks Postoffice
The Fairbanks post office will establish Route No. 2 on December 1, shortening Rural Route A of Farmersburg and offering earlier mail delivery. The new route runs 21 miles southwest from Fairbanks, will be served by a regular carrier year round, and Route A will continue to Fairbanks then head northwest serving patrons two hours earlier.

New Shiloh Church Dedication Set Near Dugger

W. W. Dale a former Sullivan jewelry dealer died suddenly Friday morning at his son Thomas Dale’s Martinsville Indiana home after a period of ill health. The Wabash river rose to flood stage this week and at Riverton stood at 18 feet on the crest. Large tracts of corn in low lands and shocks were submerged, with substantial losses anticipated. Farmers worked all day Sunday to move corn to higher ground and salvage shocks before floodwaters rose further.
