Veteran Magician Joseph Engle Dies at Home
Joseph Engle, the last Sullivan war veteran, died at his Paxton area home at noon yesterday. A respected Haddon township citizen, he was brother to Alex Engle of North Broad Street and Sam Engle of Cass township. The funeral is this afternoon.

Death of Perry Lisman Lifelong County Resident 87
Perry Lisman age 87 died at his Carlisle home last Monday after a long illness born Sullivan county March 18 1817 married Eliza Jane Hart Jan. 21 1846. Seven children two daughters five sons preceded him except Mrs John Lisman of Carlisle and Mrs W Hastings of this city. He joined the Presbyterian church about 40 years ago and was known for a kind life. He bore his health struggles with patient youthful spirit.

New Factory Planned for Sullivan to Employ Local Men
A new factory to be built at the north end of Duane street in Sullivan will produce steel buggy axles and hire 40 to 50 local workers. Stockholders include John C. Chaney, Gilbert Bond, William A. Hamilton of Linton, two Evansville men, and a Veedersburg man. Henry Rost will supervise construction of a frame building 50 by 100 feet.

Terre Haute to Vincennes and Merom Electric Lines Granted
County Commissioners grant franchises for two electric lines from Terre Haute to Vincennes and Merom to William Dorsey and partners, tied to Chicago capitalists. Plans call for a Terre Haute Southern Electrical Company with private rights of way preferred. The Vincennes line runs via Centerville Bono route with branches to Linton and Jasonville. the Merom line via Prairieton Middletown with a Sulavan branch. Construction must start within eighteen months, with one line operating within a year. Merom line slated first at an estimated cost of 25000 dollars.

Stranger Purchases Goods With Bad Check at Hays Store
Saturday evening a stranger named William Pittman bought five dollars of merchandise at Hays & Co. on the north side using a check drawn on the National Bank of Sullivan. Manager Mr. Boston suspected the check and confronted Pittman who admitted no money in the bank. He paid the bill in cash and was identified as a painter from Gibson County.

A telegram from Vincennes Indiana reports Dr H C Clippinger a delegate to the general M E conference from Indiana was robbed in Los Angeles. About seventy dollars was taken from his pocket along with papers and return tickets from his card case.

Mrs. Clara Smith aged 89 widow of Samuel Smith died in Robinson Illinois. Neighbors found $600 sewn into the lining of her burial robe and another $200 sewn into a small pillow intended to be placed under her head in the casket.
Presbyterians Act On Divorce Question
At the general assembly of the Presbyterian church the special committee on marriage and divorce reported with recommendations.
