Turman area oil well yields promising 50 barrel prospect
A test oil well on Park Osborne farm five miles northwest of town in Turman township reached 527 feet on Tuesday afternoon and struck oil sand producing an estimated 50 barrels. Shooters to complete the well were dispatched Tuesday evening. This marks the first oil discovery in Turman township and the county under Casey oil sand. The find sparks renewed county oil-field activity and involves local figures Dr Edwards and family plans as bankers and farmers.

Both teachers in Sullivan County and Normal students, Pogue led the Normal Y M C A press committee 1906-07 and edited the Normal Hand Books while Thrope was junior orator in 1906 and sang in The House that Jack Built chorus. The May term of the Sullivan circuit court will convene Monday morning with a large amount of business to be transacted. Many cases have been venued here for trial from Greene county, including Madeline Dawsey who seeks 3000 damages from the town of Merom for injuries from stumbling over a post. Sullivan Boys Hold Up Oil Man
Two Sullivan youths attempted a midnight robbery of an oil man after getting him drunk on Washington Street. Marshal James Willis and Deputy Frank Botts arrived, one boy struck the victim with a brick, the pair fled. No money was taken and no complaint was filed, so no arrests were made.

Forgery Ring Tied to Sullivan Man in $2800 Check
A forged $2800 check drawn on the People's State Bank, bearing the signature of William Powell and payable to Frank Williams, was sent to the National Bank of this city for collection. Williams reportedly cashed it in Poplar Bluff Missouri.
