Miss Abbie Lucas will entertain the E M club tonight and Miss Flossie Willis hosts euchre for friends Saturday. Mrs O M Patton’s Hoyle Euchre Club event on Thursday drew the most attention a blue luncheon with English violets. Sullivan society guests included Mesdames Kalley Jamison Long Warren Jenkins Glidden Riggs Thompson Beasley Hays Harris Crowder and Misses Stark Cowen Davis. Out of town guests were Mrs Wes Beasley and Mrs John Beasley of Terre Haute. Progressive euchre followed by an eight course luncheon and blue ribbon decorations.

A man and a woman described as very fine looking checked into the Davis hotel as Levi Campfield and his wife from Princeton Kentucky. They hired a Sullivan Transfer Company rig, went to Dugger, and left town after an $11.50 board bill remained unpaid. Local authorities pursued Campfield, who returned the rig but not him. The couple’s conduct in town appeared mysterious.

Arthur Cox aged 18 a Sunflower mines worker near Dugger plunged 107 feet into an opening. He landed in ten feet of water and survived with minor bruises no serious injuries or broken bones reported by rescuers who expected a fatal outcome.
