James L. Allan died at his Sullivan home at noon after a brief illness. Born February 14, 1818 in Nelson County Kentucky, he moved to Sullivan County in 1835. He married Rachel Eaton in 1839 and leaves one living child Ann Wilkey and three brothers. Funeral Friday at 10:30 in the Methodist church with Rev. J. H. Carnes officiating. interment Center Ridge cemetery.
