Hosea Bats was fatally shot Friday morning on the Wabash River in Turman township during a duck hunt with Will Rockwell. The accident occurred when Rockwell fired at a duck and Bats rose in the skiff, the second shot hitting him in the head. Bats died that afternoon. Rockwell is described as grief stricken.
