Miners and Operators Fail to Agree on Wages in Indianapolis
In Indianapolis the Convention of Miners and Coal Operators adjourned without a wage agreement for the new year starting April 1. Miners demand current scales, while operators offer a two year contract with a 54 percent reduction. Bessie Foster of Evansville Indiana died in Denver Colorado from peritonitis after an appendectomy. She traveled against doctors warnings to help Russell Boles prove an alibi for a murder and assault case tied to Harold Fridborn. Boles was convicted despite her effort. The witness faced severe cross examination before hospitalization.

Serious Mine Accident At Superior Mines Injures McClellan
Alfred McClellan suffered a broken jaw when caught between two coal cars while driving a mule in the Superior mines on Monday. He was treated by Drs. C H Edwards and B E Riggs and is expected to recover. He is the son of Starret McClellan of Cass township. In the circuit room last evening C M Lutz showed views of the Kansas floods.
