Death of Mrs Setzer of Merom
Mrs Setzer of Merom died after a stroke that left her unconscious on Thursday. She had run a Merom hotel and was known as a hospitable hostess. Surviving are four children John and Emery Setzer in Merom, Russell Setzer of Vincennes, and Mrs Wash French of this city. Funeral was held yesterday with interment in Merom cemetery.

Major J. E. Brant of the 85th Indiana Volunteers died at his Bloomington home on Monday. He was deeply beloved by old soldiers of the regiment and often visited the county for reunions where he preached sermons to his comrades.

New Library Building Construction Tied To Carnegie Donation
The Library Board met last Thursday to review eight bids for a Carnegie library project. Frank Nichols submitted the lowest bid of 8276 dollars, with Sullivan Heat Light and Power Co to supply plumbing at 10 percent over cost. Completion set for October 1, 1904. bond, contract by March 4. Funding includes Carnegie gift of 10,000 dollars, about 2,200 from taxes, and 700 from local donors, totaling nearly 13,000 for a premier building and collection.

Griffin Fights Pneumonia While Away with Theatrical Company
Telegraph reports Billy Griffin of the Ward traveling with a theater troupe in Norwalk Ohio is seriously ill with pneumonia. His sister Miss Etta Griffin and Mr J A Mattix planned to travel to him but were told the crisis had passed and the trip was unnecessary. Friends here await further news on his recovery.

Sons of Veterans Reorganize in G A R Hall
Monday evening a sizable group gathered at the G A R hall to reorganize Free man Camp No. 2638 Sons of Veterans. The reorganized camp retains the original charter and number with 35 members, a new temporary leadership named, and plans for a second meeting on March 14 1904 to finalize the revival. John C Chaney gave a patriotic address honoring the Boys of 61 and Memorial Day observances.

Death of Mr. Lee Allen
Mr. Lee Allen died after a two and a half hour cancer removal operation at Presbyterian Hospital Chicago. He lingered until Monday at 3 p m with his wife beside him. A substantial county farmer, he had long engaged in stock buying and shipping and leaves a widow and three children John Harland Allen and Mrs J K Coulson. Funeral services will be held Thursday from the family home with burial at Burnett cemetery.

Mine Accident at Fairbanks Co-operative Mines
Seven miles northwest of the city a cage accident at the Fairbanks Co-operative Coal mines injured W. V. Cutsinger severely while five other workers escaped unharmed. The cage dropped 125 feet after a cog slipped during an attempted entry by an employee with the regular engineer away. The mine is owned and managed by a neighbor.

Millions in bonds planned with four million taken by a New York Trust Company and one million for local investors. Commissioner Bennett Sued for Assault and Damages
John B. Lynch sues Sullivan county commissioner William Bennett in the Sullivan circuit court for damages after an alleged February 6, 1904 assault with a concealed weapon. Lynch claims a broken nose, dental injuries, three weeks bed confinement, about $200 in medical and nursing costs, permanent injury, and humiliation, seeking $5000 plus relief. Dr. Thompson Struck By Accident Near Farnsworth Road
Last Thursday around 9 pm Dr. W N Thompson was riding when his buggy axle broke causing his horse to bolt. He fell and injured his head, later washed away blood and bound his scalp before Mr. Yeager rushed him to town. Dr. C F Briggs found a serious scalp wound and other injuries. he is expected to be out for several days.
