Awful Adventure Sees Brakeman Survive Wire Strike
W A Austin a brakeman on an east bound Illinois Central freight escaped death when a telephone wire hung across the track struck him on crossing two west of New Lebanon. The wire burned his face neck eyes and arms and dragged him atop the car. He grabbed the car edge to avoid being run under the train. The broken wire saved him from a worse fate.
