Blaze Destroys Patton Slaughter House in City South
The Patton slaughter house near the city, owned by O M Patton, burned to the ground at noon today. The Union could not determine the fire origin. A large quantity of lard and meats was consumed, and the loss is expected to be heavy. It is believed Patton carried no insurance.

Death of Sullivan County's oldest resident Aunt Granny Dickerson
Mrs Margaret Dickerson died at her Sullivan county home last Wednesday night aged 97. Born March 24 1803 in Russell County Kentucky she lived in Sullivan county over eighty years and helped shape local history. A lifelong Baptist she was a devoted Christian and mother of Scott Dicker. She resided with her grandson Will Dixon and was buried Friday at Coffman cemetery.

Big Shipment of Stock Sends 220 Cattle to Indianapolis
A special ten car Illinois Central train carried 220 head of Sullivan County cattle to the Indianapolis markets last Thursday. Aus and Wash Sinclair shipped for Graveshouse & Co. of Indianapolis and received twelve thousand five hundred dollars. I S Draper, Central agent here, noted the farmers’ wish to ship at 9:30, a train stood by at 1:30, and the load left at 4:30 for Indianapolis.

Peg in the Corn Trap Snags Suspected Thief
