A passenger coach will run to serve eastern residents, with eastbound freight held to allow return after the meeting.

William E Catlin Dies at 88 in Sullivan County
William E Catlin died Thursday at his daughter-in-law’s home on Court Street after several weeks of illness. Born February 21, 1818 in Washington County Kentucky, he celebrated his 88th birthday recently. Funeral was Saturday at the Christian church with interment in Center Ridge cemetery. He married Elizabeth H. Ridge on May 22 1888 and had two sons William Francis and James A. Catlin. He operated a dry goods and grocery business on Washington Street near the Arcade saloon site and was active in local politics as a lifelong Democrat.

Lydia A. McKinley Jewell, aged 85, longtime Turman township resident and one of Sullivan county’s oldest, died Friday morning April 20 at the home of Tom McKinley west of Providence. Born December 20, 1820 in Taylorville Kentucky, she married Richard Jewell at 30 and moved to Sullivan county in 1857. Her parents William and Mary McKinley are deceased.
