Jamison number one and two add roughly 1.5 million and 1.2 million cubic feet daily. Sullivan Gas Company formed with multiple stockholders plans a new well and gas piping to town, with mains cost estimated at 60,090 dollars and service ready before snow flies.

Five men hurt by powder explosion at Jackson Hill
Five men were seriously burned at Jackson Hill two miles east of Shelburn when a sack of two pounds of powder exploded during an Fourth of July celebration. Arthur Robertson suffered severe burns to face body and arms. Fred Downs and Stanley Drombaskin were burned about the face and arms. Willie Robertson was slightly burned about the arms. The blast happened as William Robertson held the sack and someone fired a squib into it.

The Economy grocery store opposite the McCammon hotel was totally destroyed by a fire around 3 AM Tuesday. Owner Oscar Rich carried $2,000 on stock valued at $3,000. the brick building owned by Mrs. Sue Reed was insured. The second floor lodge room was only slightly damaged, while the stock was wrecked. Fire officials said an explosion may have occurred. plate glass shattered. Firefighters prevented further losses. Visitors attended a Fourth of July picnic hosted by H. G. McClung on Johnson Street with many area families listed as attendees including the Drapers, Baxters, and others from local and nearby towns.
