Prairie ship house on Bennet farm draws visitors near Hall’s Summit
Visitors to George S. Bennet’s Coffey county farm in Kansas marvel at a ship shaped structure resembling an ocean liner. The two decked gallery building houses beehives, a cedar den, and water tanks, with a large pond, dam, and a costly prairie ship project valued near four thousand dollars. Bennet plans melon crops across straw stacks to protect ripening.

The market quotation on gall stones remains at 100 dollars a pound at the stock yards where the article is sold as Chinese devil chasers. A J Little, head of the selling department of a large meat packing firm, said his firm markets about eight or nine pounds a year from cattle slaughter. Some stones are walnut sized, but most are pea sized. All are bought by Japanese who ship them back to Japan for Chinese trade. The Chinese believe the gall stone carries power and treasure it when fashioned into a terrible shape.
