Former Tennessee principal and geologist dies in Nashville
A Homer Perdue longtime high school principal in this city more than 25 years ago died Saturday at his Nashville home. He served as Tennessee State Geologist and was a Warrick county native, Indiana State Normal College and Stanford University graduate. He worked in geology in Arkansas for many years.

Samantha Belle Bennett, who killed her husband Charles Bennett in this city over two years ago, has been released from the Indianapolis Woman’s Prison after a minimum two year sentence. Since release she has married her first husband Barney Helms, who cared for their two children. The case drew court notoriety after Bennett divorced Helms and remarrying Charles Bennett at least six times.

Kate Richards O’Hare editor of the Rip Saw in St. Louis was sentenced to five years in Missouri state prison for treasonable utterances. Judge Martin J. Wade imposed the term in a federal court in Bismarck North Dakota after a speech opposing military registration. Witnesses testified she denounced parents who raised sons for cannon fodder and mocked enlistment as German fertilizer.
