Miss Earline Sinclair, 19, a district No. 19 teacher near Cass township, was bound and forced to stand waist deep in icy water after refusing to treat pupils who demanded it. Five students led the assault. warrants issued for the four youths and the incident triggers community outrage and pursuit of justice.
Police prepare to arrest six youths this afternoon for riot and assault and battery in the Miss Earline Sinclair case. The juveniles aged 13 to 17 are Pearl Parks, Jesse McClellan, Floyd Deckard, Kate Parks, Ina Deckard and Gertie McClellan.
Mr and Mrs Benjamin Sproatt celebrate their sixty sixth wedding anniversary linking to a long family history. He turned 90 on November 5 and she is six years younger. They settled near Oaktown in 1821 and were wed December 5 1837. The couple raised six children and now share four generations of relatives while recalling events from sixty years ago. Burglars entered County Clerk Taylor's home through a dining room window Monday night. They took a suit belonging to Spencer Russell that held Mr. Russell's pocketbook with five or six dollars and a certificate of deposit from Farmersburg bank. The mandamus suit by Mr. Taylor was overlooked.
A fire caused by a defective flue in Curt Hagerman's livery barn at Farmersburg last Saturday morning totally destroyed the barn Heap's meat market and the Baptist parsonage. Several neighboring structures narrowly escaped. Total loss unknown.
A local light district advances a proposition to fund two new school houses. Voters face choice on issuing bonds to cover construction costs and timeline for project completion. The plan aims to ease classroom capacity and update facilities across affected campuses.
The board passes a resolution urging the town board to order an election on funding two new school buildings on the Creager property east of the E T H railroad. Plans call for a six room east side structure and a large two story high school on the 8th grade site, with projected costs from 6000 to 7500 dollars and about 26000 for the large building.
Adolph Heilman and Frank Mahan miners at Hymera Coal Co Mine No 1 were preparing to fire a shot when a blast in an adjacent room shattered the break through cover and coal fatally injured Heilman who died within an hour. Mahan suffered two broken legs and internal injuries but survived. Heilman leaves a wife and two children. Mahan is single.

In Caledonia east of Sullivan a Saturday duel left Mrs Amanda Blue slightly wounded by a shotgun blast from William Pittman who faced back by Harry Blue with a six shooter. Harry Blue filed charges against Pittman for assault and battery with intent to murder. Pittman may retaliate. The motive remains unclear.
Mrs Ann O'Brien widow of Patrick O'Brien died last Friday at her Sullivan home aged 82. Born in Ireland in 1821 she came to America in 1845 and later moved from Day ton to Sullivan. Funeral at Catholic church conducted by Rev Father Baron with burial at Center Ridge. She is mother to John O'Brien Catharine Molohon and Mrs Julia Beck. Also Mrs Elizabeth Dudley died age 47. burial at Center Ridge after funeral at home conducted by Rev J H Carnes.
