Lincoln in Indiana on Lincoln's Attitude Toward Church and Religion
A detailed 19th century view of Abraham Lincoln's early fatalistic faith, his ties to the Little Pigeon Baptist church, later shifts toward belief in divine providence, and how his religion intersected with his politics and public life. The piece contrasts zealously devotional Baptist culture with Lincoln's measured conscience and reliance on God in pivotal moments.
