Uncle Billy Moore Dies After Illness in Graysville
Uncle Billy Moore longtime county pioneer died Sunday at his Graysville home after several days of congestion of the brain. He was a Shelby County native who came to the area in 1853 and lived on farms west of Sullivan and in Turman township before moving to Graysville. He was a charter Sullivan Masonic member and a Primitive Baptist, survived by his wife Julia Ann Thomas and two children Thomas Moore and Esther Woner, with sisters Margaret Presser Libbie Hendrickson and R A McKinley. Funeral services were at Graysville and burial at Center Ridge cemetery under Masonic rites.

Hixon W. Davis prominent local businessman and bank official died Sunday at his South Main street home after an extended illness. Born June 28 1861 in Turman township he built a career with John Davis Sons then led Sullivan Planing Mills later heading the Sullivan County Loan & Trust Company He retired from banking in February due to ill health and left a wife two sons a brother and a sister as survivors Funeral services at the Baptist church were well attended with Masons lodges Modern Woodmen and Elks in procession.

Two Held on Charge of Picking Pockets at Farmersburg Picnic
Peter Turner and Tom Moore were arraigned for attempting to pick the pockets of Charles Zimmerman, Vigo county farmer, at the Old Settlers' Picnic in Farmersburg. They pleaded not guilty, posted no bond, and were remanded to jail for trial next Wednesday. Zimmerman grappled with them.
