Tragic Accident Claims Esther Riggs on Busser Creek Trestle
Esther Riggs sixteen daughter of James R. Riggs president of the Sullivan County Loan and Trust Company died after an east bound Illinois Central freight struck her on the Busser creek trestle Sunday afternoon. Hazel Russell escaped with help while Frank Gardner of the Sullivan County Water Company rescued Riggs from the creek. Gardner drove her home to Sullivan where Drs Crowder and Scott treated multiple injuries and a brain blood clot developed before surgery.

William C. Hoover, 83, a longtime Haddon township resident and Rush Medical College graduate who never practiced medicine, died Friday night at Dan V. Silims’s home three miles south of Carlisle. He spent his life farming and had been an invalid from paralysis. funeral services were Monday afternoon at the M E church with burial in the Helm s cemetery.

Suspended term for last one of gunmen in Dugger fight
