Faculty list for Sterling Two High School includes DeVoe as Superintendent and Adams as Assistant Superintendent. English teachers include Gazelle Coffey Lucille Barnes Esther Fishher Priscilla Coffey Marie Kauth Viola Martin Mildred Sasek Lula Pignatelli Ruth Welle and others.
S. H. S. teachers spent their summer on diverse pursuits. Robbins toured eastern and southern states while Krughoff visited western states. Burritt and Welle vacationed in Canada. Sasek studied at Lincoln Nebraska and Hall at Illinois. DeVoe stayed three weeks in northern Wisconsin. Scheid fished at Lake Bloomington. Barnes visited Washington state, Adams Detroit, Hunt Chicago and Ashton. Eades Musgrove Mitchell remained at home. Tonkin served two weeks in the army then spent the rest in Michigan.

Susie Hoffman attends Illinois Girls State at MacMurray College in Jacksonville during June 27 to July 5. The program, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, offers citizenship training for girls over 15 who have completed three years of high school, focusing on self governed citizenship and government duties without partisan influence.
Wenda Michels a senior at S H S attended the Junior Red Cross Center at Camp Bob Marshall near Custer South Dakota this summer. The program aimed to build leadership for JRC work and citizenship with courses in production home nursing first aid water safety philosophy and organization international relations and nutrition. Activities included housekeeping competitions speeches by Badger Clark swimming and recreation. Among 100 attendees two were from Canada.
A monthly fire alarm will sound and students must march to the nearest exit. Teachers will direct each room on the correct escape direction when the alarm is given.
The official groundbreaking for the new S. H. S. occurred at 10:00 July 13, 1948 with Mr. Owen Beatty and P. H. Ward leading the school board. Present were Paul Kornman general contractor Louis Kornman Don Smith arch contractor and Eades. Foundations pour for Administration building near completion as five linked buildings rise toward occupancy in 1949 to 1950.
The board of education installed an inter communication system for announcements. When the gong sounds, students must stop and listen, whether in halls or classrooms, as it may indicate a fire drill or important message for all.
The school announces seven new teachers across disciplines: Priscilla Coffey English Eunice Deffenbaugh Girls Physical Education Margaret Dickson English Alice Head Commercial Doreen Landis Home Economics Barbara Larson Speech and Herbert Parsley Mathematics.
