S H S Will Lose Four Instructors This Fall Term

S H S will lose Miss Schick Miss Peterson Miss Frahm and Mrs Peterson from the eight member faculty as the fall term begins next year. Miss Schick arrived in 1934 from Gettysburg Ohio taught French English and typing and has been at S H S except for a one year absence. Miss Peterson joined in 1929 from Alpha bringing experience in commerce and served as senior advisor to students. Miss Frahm came from Town State College in 1945 and has taught Home Economics for three years and worked as junior advisor. Mrs Peterson joined in 1944 as Gym instructor and previously taught at Mast Colona. she aided the girls athletic program.

Art Class Exhibit Showcases Student Works

Sunday May 16 art students under Mr Neahring presented an exhibit highlighting landscapes still life portraits and designs in oils watercolors and pencil. Graduation To Be At The Stadium

Commencement exercises will be held June 1 at the Stadium at 7 P.M. The speaker will be Wilbur Carl Christians pastor of LaGrange Baptist Church LaGrange Illinois. He has done radio broadcasting and writing and his epic is Seeing the Invisible. Baccalaureate will be held Sunday May 30 at 5 PM in St John’s Lutheran Church.

Timmons Resigns From S H S After 37 Years

Mr C N Timmons resigns as Superintendent of Building and Grounds at S H S after 37 years. A Hoosier from Oxford Indiana, he founded the shop department and guided many students toward college. His farewell notes his long service and impact on the school community.

Junior Rotarians Guests of Honor at Sterling Rotary

The Sterling Rotary Club met on Tuesday May 16 with all year’s Junior Rotarians as guests of honor. Student officers hosted the event with Charles Kornman as President Jim Young Vice President Jeannie Saunders Treasurer Ruth Hains Secretary Rodney Herr Program Chairman and others leading activities.

Script Banquet Held At St Johns Church

The annual Script Banquet was held Monday May 24 at St Johns Lutheran Church. Mrs N Timmons spoke on Mexico as guests included Mr and Mrs Hades and Mr and Mrs DeVoe. Future editors Susan Stoffman and Bertha Peterson were announced by Miss Krughoff.

S H S Faculty Dinner Honors Five Departing Teachers

The May 12 faculty dinner at White Pines Park honored five S H S teachers leaving at year end: retiring Timmons after 36 years, brides Itelen Peterson Harriet Schick Jane Frahm, and retiring girls PE instructor Vivian Peterson. About sixty guests attended with decor, speeches, and gifts.

Ted spoke about the high school darkroom and sports photography at the Gazette gathering. Marge Cameron and Marilyn Stone performed several numbers. The group ended with Auld Lang Syne, noting the friendliness and shared Rotary experiences.

Top Hat Prom Set for June 2 at the Coliseum

Class Officers Elected for Sophomore, Junior and Senior Classes

The Sophomore and Junior Classes met to elect officers for the class of 38-49. Freshmen have not elected officers yet.
