Quill and Scroll Inducts New Members and Plans

Spotlight on Future Homemakers of America as seven chapters observe National Week October 31 to November 6. Sterling Chapter plans activities with roses for church members and daily posters at the school. Linda McCoy, Carrie Doty, Pat Barlow, and Judy Rudolph attended the Oregon section officers meeting. Barlow elected chairman of the section public relations committee.

Sterling Future Farmers Are District Champs

The Sterling Chapter of the Future Farmers of America won the District Land Judging Contest held October 20 at Amboy. The Sterling team of Leonard Long, Bill Grim, and Don Brill scored 984 points to beat thirteen other schools.

Student Council Elects Flock Pineda Wagner Leaders

The Student Council elected Nikki Flock as president, Ron Pineda as vice president, Verna Wagner as secretary treasurer, and Stan Bachman as assistant secretary. The council plans to purchase an Indian costume to continue the homecoming pageantry.

Tyne Leads Photogs Club Open Invite After School

Lee Tyne newly elected president of the Camera Club urges members to meet every Thursday after school in the dark room. Bob Brown serves as secretary-treasurer. The year began with selling homecoming pictures and a December trip to the Rockford Photo Company is planned. Club shoots remain a regular project.

Sterling Township High School Inducts Twelve into Quill and Scroll

In an morning installation ceremony the Sterling Township High School student body watched twelve students and two faculty members inducted into the Quill and Scroll Society. New members include staff from Script and Blue and Gold plus yearbook staff with two surprise inductions for two advisors.

Student Librarians Perform Many Tasks

A feature on the library staff describes desk clerks stamping books, clerical aides handling overdue slips, shelving staff organizing shelves, and magazine room librarians managing reference materials. Bulletin boards are refreshed biweekly, and staff rotate weekly to learn each area.

Pat Barlow was elected to the office of public relations chairman for Section 21 at an officer training school in Oregon. Her duties include collecting news from Future Homemakers of America chapters in the section and compiling it into the single newspaper the F H A Newsletter, with copies sent to each chapter.
