G A A Holds Buddy Picnic For New And Returning Members

A Buddy Picnic at Sinnis sippi Park Woodlawn welcomed new G A A members and returning ones. The event provided food and aimed to introduce new members to old, with new PE teachers Miss Marise Daves and Miss Leola Offner announced as assistant advisors. Archers work on improving for the Postal Tournament October 5 14 with Sterling aiming for first after last year’s third place.

Debaters Prep for La Grange Invitational Tournament

Faculty elects officers at Sterling Township High School

Miss Doris Burritt will serve as president of the Faculty Club of Sterling Township High School this year. Other officers include Paul Clopper as vice president, Mrs. Margaret Mee as secretary, and Mr. Arthur Schick as treasurer.

Sterling FFA Members Shine in Meat Judging Contest

The Sterling FFA team Roger Anderson Howard Janssen and Bill Grim placed fifth among 57 schools at Champaign on September 25. They judged wholesale cuts and retail specimens of beef pork veal and lamb. Officers are Bob Deets president Howard Janssen vice president Ed Fassler secretary Johann Biller treasurer Ronnie Dettman reporter Don Weidel sentinel. Ed Fassler Ronnie Dettman and Charles Maxwell attended Camp Em maus officers training September 11 12. On October 20 Sterling FFA will enter a Land Selection Contest in Amboy.

Sterling Township faculty delegates attend Dixon meeting

The Sterling Township High School faculty delegates to the Illinois Education Association will attend a business meeting in Dixon on October 18 to report on county meeting items. Results will be shared at the Division meeting in Dixon on October 22. Delegates and alternates serve until May 1955: Miss Virginia Hayn and Mr Floyd Hunsberger, Mr Robert McMurry and Miss Deloris Salzsiedler, and Mr John Strenge and Miss Marie Dickson.

Impressive Homecoming Crown Planned At Sterling Township High

The Homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime during the varsity game amid a production by the Sterling Township High School Band. Five candidates are Ann Burkholder, Juanita Espinoza, Phyllis Holloway, Dianna Roden, and Pauline Woessner.

Stewart elected president of the Science Club

Colin Stewart, whose science entry won top honors at the Champaign science fair last year, is named president of the Science Club. Lee Tyne becomes vice president, Don Hauger secretary, and Richard Seldon treasurer. Meetings occur after supper on the third Tuesday monthly to work on Science Fair and other contest projects.

Dramatic Club Holds Sinnissippi Park Picnic

About 60 S H S members attended at Sinnissippi Park to meet the Dramatic Club. They brought dishes to pass and sack lunches while the club provided pop and ice cream. An evening of humor and song followed with a take-off on teachers by Dianna Roden and Beth Richter. Joanne Whitaker, club president, spoke on membership eligibility.
