Senior class production January Thaw a three act comedy by William Roos based on a Bellamy Partridge novel. Two performances December 8 and 9 with Barbara Larson directing. Students Hold Mock Election in School Library

In a November 2 mock presidential vote led by Mr. Robbins and Mr. Semmler, students registered by Monday four o'clock and voted from eight to four with a tally mirroring Whiteside County. Election workers and counters included JoAnne Andrews, Jack Watson, Tony Pizarro, and many others.

Future Teachers Hear Talk by Miss Manus on Near East

The Future Teachers met on November 10 and planned projects for future meetings. Miss Ruth Manus gave an engaging talk on her Near East experiences with color pictures of Beirut and Palestine. She previously taught 400 girls English and music at a Beirut girls’ school and now teaches at Rock Falls High School.

The N C 1 C district selects a one act play The Happy Journey by Thornton Wilder to be staged December 11 in Dixon. SHS casts and student directors are named with Miss Larson as faculty advisor.

Campus Club Elects Officers and Discusses College Pathways

The Campus Club held its second meeting electing Polly Jewell as President Curt Benson as Vice President Gwen Turnruth as Secretary Lois Foulds as Program Chairman and Ruth Moreland as Publicity. The group aims to help students understand college options and complete forms to aid interviews.

The Latin Club plans a freshmen welcoming party Monday November 29 from seven to nine. Joanne Kunde was chosen chairman to lead the affair. S H S Homecoming: Rainy Parade Ends in Big Victory

S H S celebrated a lively homecoming on November 5 with rain-damped floats led by parade chair Nonis Snow and faculty adviser Mr. Lee. Sterling defeated Morrison 42 to 6, followed by a coliseum dance and a floor show featuring a new school song and a playful football-plot skit by eight G A A girls before about 350 spectators.
