The North Central Illinois conference expands to nine schools for the 1942 track season adding Hall Township Spring Valley Ottawa Rock Falls and Geneseo to existing members DeKalb Dixon Sterling Mendota and Princeton. Geneseo led the Blackhawk Conference before leaving for more competition while Ottawa Spring Valley and Rock Falls are noted athletic powers. Sterling Tops East Moline In Fifth Straight Victory
The Goldmen defeated East Moline 37 to 27 in a combined football basketball game held last Tuesday night. Tom Bogaard and Dan Troye led Sterling with 26 points combined while East Moline’s Russo, Murtens, and Lenc stood out. Both teams scored only one point in the second quarter as Bressler of Sterling converted the lone free throw. Sterling attempted 59 shots to East Moline’s 52, making 15 to 11.
