JRC Council Plans Projects For Community Aid

The Junior Red Cross Council met at 3:30 in Miss Marie Dickson's room to plan the Red Cross drive rat control clothing for a Kentucky family and entertainment for Schick Hospital veterans. David Clark leads rat control. Doris Kunde heads clothing drive. local students will perform for veterans with Mr Dunham Tonkin and Miss Barnes coordinating.

Junior Rotarian selections announced for three Tuesdays

Junior Rotarians chosen for this month are Chuck Cole John Michel Bob Peugh Lavern Johnson Jim Galloway and Bob Galloway. In spring those who served plan and present a program to show appreciation to the Rotary Club.

It’s A Date Choir Program At The Coliseum

On November 2 and 3 a Robed Choir group of thirty performed It’s a Date at the Coliseum. They sang The Heavens Resounding Lords of Spirits and Cherubim Song No 7 with Glenna Gould as soloist.

Council Plans Projects At School Meeting

The student council met November 9 in the visual education room with President Chuck Cole presiding. Four points were discussed including traffic regulations and strict enforcement of gum chewing bans. A school supplies stand will be run by council members from 8 to 8 15 am and after school for short periods. The group debated playing The National Anthem at school events to teach proper conduct.

Radio Programs Begin On Thursday November 9

A series of radio programs began on November 9 and will air every two weeks on WSDR from 7 45 to 8 00. Advisors are Miss Barbara Larson Mr William Tonkin and Mr Darrel Dunham. The November 9 program titled Something Equally as Brilliant as SHS on the Air featured writers Ron Schueler Tom Slothower Joyce Hall Betty Scott Ralah Wesner Bob Baither and Janice Wagner with the Girls Ensemble and Boys Quartet. Participation is open to Dramatic Club members who help write scripts.

Senior Recognition Day Marks First At S H S

On November 10 the Class of 51 held the first Senior Recognition Day at S H S. Seniors dressed in Sunday best, with girls in dresses and heels and boys in sport outfits. They wore 51 pins and carried blue and gold banners to the evening game and dance.

Yearbook Underway Under Direction Of Editors And Studio

The 1951 yearbook is underway with co editors Kay Eshleman and Roger Laible and business manager Bob Mathis. Lyle Eshleman of Eshleman Studios Sterling has taken senior and faculty portraits. Informal snapshots are being made by Lee Keiser and Bob Feldman around the school.

Fiesta Fantasy Dance Planned For November 22

The Capa club invites students and alumni to Fiesta Fantasy on November 22 at Sterling Colis eum from 8:30 to 11:30. Melody Makers provide music. native Mexican dances and a skit will be shown. tickets go on sale November 20 for 60 cents single or 1.00 couple.

Hi Tri Discusse Christmas Party Scheduling

Hi Tri held its meeting on November 9 with a pot luck supper. President Sally Mosher presided. Ann Farrer read scripture and offered a short prayer. The group approved a Christmas Party for December 19 from 4 to 6 PM at the YWCA. Marie Dickson outlined Hi Tri expectations and SHS On the Air on WSDR closed the session.

Dramatic Club Presents Program To Urge Voting

On November 1 the Dramatic Club aired a 15 minute program on WSDR to urge people to vote. Presented in cooperation with the Sterling Junior Chamber of Commerce the show featured a script by Jack Reiske Norma Miller Wayne Moore Jane Morrow and Pat Allen and cast includes Beth Myers Arthur Magon and Bob Baither.

Pins Awarded to Outstanding Commercial Students

Pins for exceptional performance are awarded to commercial students who pass qualitative tests. Since the start of the school year several pins have been given. Recipients include Carol Camps for 80 word shorthand, Joyce Hall for 100 word shorthand and 40 word typing, Ervin Lo for 30 word typing.
