The Script will be distributed on Friday to allow reporters more time to prepare and avoid football practice conflicts after school. Previously released on Thursday, it caused studying to slip on Thursday evenings. Now students can read Friday evening and perhaps delay boy friends.
A narrator reflects on janitors keeping a large building clean after hours. The task is arduous as countless scraps of paper litter the floor, and the back aches from bending and lifting. The moral emphasized is simple: don’t throw paper on the floor.
Sterling High Debaters hold practice sessions as they finalize their lineup for the question, Resolved that all electric utilities be governmentally owned and operated. The Blue and Gold staff focused on the annual theme dedication and the year book’s size and makeup during Monday night’s board meeting. Editor Etta May Anspach led the session under Miss Echternach’s direction.
Mr. E. T. Austin showed slides on France and Switzerland to the French class Monday morning, delivering a brief visual overview for the students.
The Script plans a new student opinion column for criticism and commentary. Poems and jokes welcome, but readers are urged to submit their pet gripe in two-dollar word form to feature editor Naomi Benters.
The Science Club forms a committee and selects Sue Rubright as temporary chair with Rose Anderson Edward White Royce Behrens and Stanley Rieser on the constitution committee. Meetings will be public. Dr Luther H Gable will speak on radium and cosmic rays on Tuesday November 24 using protected radium cases and demonstrations including infrared violet ultraviolet grentz cathode and aurora borealis themes.
Students share mixed views on moving classes from 8 25 to 8 02. Ada Shaw notes earlier start lets less time after school. Vernon Frye sees extra study time and work opportunities as key gains. Mary Anna Turnroth approves overall but worries about waking early. Sanford Mitchell calls the change swell with more time to do things.
Harriet Huber and Bernard Dewey recently married among alumni. Louis Long class of 1936 serves as secretary treasurer of the freshman class at Knox College. Bill Conde, former S. H. S. student, is appointed manager of athletics at Florida Military Academy in St. Petersburg. Betty Meyer, a recent graduate, joins the office staff.
