The May 2 issue of the Script is produced by juniors with help from underclassmen. Co editors are Doris Woessner Judy Swain and Billie Huenger as News editor Margie Meyer as feature editor and Earl Bailey as sports editor. The piece aims to train juniors for next year’s paper.
Attention All Juniors the message urges payment of class dues to attend the Junior Senior Prom. With four weeks left in school the deadline is within a week and students are directed to pay one dollar to treasurer Carlyle Cameron to avoid a rush.
The Dramatic Club held a March potluck and a Tell-Tale Heart movie. David Clark won the contest for the club name S. H. S Players. Pat Hanson and Bob Baither attended the Elgin sectional. Bob placed fifth in Radio News Broadcasting. The club aired radio programs on WSDR March 24 to 31 and introduced a point based awards system. The year ends with a May picnic inviting all members.
The class of 1952 moves ahead with the Paddle Wheel, a May 17 senior dance in the tower building. Tickets cost one dollar per couple and sixty cents for singles. Marion Thomas and her orchestra play from 8:30 to 11:30, with Showboat decorations and a paddling committee coordinating the event.
The S H S band directed by Darrell Dunham will hold its spring concert on Sunday May 25 at Sterling Coliseum. The program opens with Bach Panis Angelicus and ends with Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue arranged by Grofe. Committee chairs Norma Miller publicity Mary Lou Ogilevee ticket Ann Farrer stage.
On May 7 the Freshman Boys and Girls Choruses will perform in the tower building at 8 15 p m. The program includes selections such as Proudly as the Eagle Go Down Moses and Sleep Kentucky Babe for the boys and Let There Be Music Smoke Gets in Your Eyes Lover Come Back to Me and The Shooting Song for the girls. The Sophomore Mixed Chorus will sing Country Style Climbin Up the Mountain a Negro spiritual The Erie Canal Kathryns Wedding Day Auf Wiedersehen from The Blue Paradise and I Love a Parade with John De Wind as soloist. Sophomores are trying out for the Robed Choir. interested sophomores should see Mr Tonkin soon.
