Script Dedicates Issue To All Former S. H. S. Students In Service

Sterling Township High School dedicates this issue to former students serving in all military branches. It notes many have already gone, and more will join after graduation. The staff highlights faculty members serving and expresses best wishes to all in the armed forces.

Learn Art Of Make-up At Dramatic Club Meet

Fifth Avenue Players members praised make-up as an art after a greasy session on Monday evening March 8 Miss Helen Peterson explained the procedure and the group applied their new skills to create realistic characters including Hitlers old men glamour girls and a pirate. The cast of It s a Beautiful Day in America performed before the D A R on March 2. Martin Doermann will present Promote the Genes Welfare with a cooperative supporting cast aiding his direction.

Patriotic Musical Play Wins Audience Acclaim

The Fifth Avenue Players and Robedt Choir presented a patriotic musical It s a Beautiful Day in America with Martin Doermann as Uncle Sam guiding scenes. A nine member chorus performed songs such as Gods Country School Days This is Worth Fighting For and I Hear America Singing with Walt Whitman words and Harvey Gaul music.

Stamp Sales Boom As Students And Faculty Gain In Cooperation

A small grey booth at the high school sells defense stamps each Wednesday. On March 10 it moved $85 in stamps, bringing 1943 sales to $409.85. The booth, run as war work, earns no money for its operators and teams with students and staff.

Test Appetites For The Spanish Club Dinner

On Monday March 22 the Spanish Club will host a dinner in the Home Economics building prepared by Mrs. Magon ae of Mexico with assistance from Mrs. Martin and Miss Blomquist. Gilberto Fidalgo will give a talk about Mexico and the club will sing with his accompaniment. The evening includes games.

Sterling high announces a western themed Rhythm Round-up on April 2 in the gym. Nellie Hill and Ed Radke co chair the event with decorative and committee plans including decoration, refreshments, floor show, music, cleanup and publicity led by local students and staff.

Tests For Senior Class At S H S

Dr H M Jacobs led tuberculin testing for S H S seniors on February 16 with reading completed within 48 hours. Positive results showed a reddened area, negatives remained unchanged. Affected students received chest X Rays to assess activity. The county favors early tests to reduce future sanatorium costs.

Honest Boy Myron Shannon Rewarded For Wallet Find

A downtown boy Myron Shannon found a wallet with 52 dollars and five pictures. He sought the owner and was rewarded when the wallet owner identified the billfold and came to Myron’s home to claim it. Myron kept the reward money.
