Sophomore Dance Set in Gym Friday March 12

Stamp Stampede held in gym this afternoon by Latin Club. Kenny Duhm and Mary Lou Foulds will co chair the sophomore dance in the school gym Friday night March 12. Logan's orchestra will provide music. Admission price to be announced later. Committees listed by scope and chairmen.

Three Girls Qualify for DAR Washington Pilgrimage

Barbara Bell Helen Becker and Dorothy Hoener are chosen to qualify for the Daughters of the American Revolution annual pilgrimage to Washington D C. They meet dependability service leadership and patriotism standards and are backed by good school records and activity involvement.

Juniors Lead Honor Roll With Eleven For Second Quarter

The junior class placed eleven students on the scholastic honor roll for the second quarter to top all other classes. Sophomores followed with 10, seniors 8, and freshmen 5, with numerous named students earning A grades.

Dramatists Plan Short Plays This Semester

Fifth Avenue Players meetings postponed due to exams and bad weather. S. H. 8 dramatists will present three one act plays this semester with auditions before casting. A club group prepares a play for the D. A. R. in March featuring musical interludes by a vocal ensemble.

Three New Teachers Added To Sterling Township High

Sterling Township High School expands its staff with three new teachers Miss Jeanette Sasek Miss Mildred Krughoff and Miss Mary Jane Coles following the loss of three former faculty members Mrs Kenver Hankland Miss Rayma Rawson and Miss Lorene Lindstrom Mrs Allen Puels becomes school nurse replacing Mrs Edward McAndrews Coles teaches English replacing Rawson and previously taught at Atkinson Illinois Coles studied Mt St Clare junior college Rosary college and did graduate work at UChicago and NIU Krughoff a social science teacher will oversee guidance duties and has degrees from Bradley ISNU and ISNU McKendree teaching background Lake County Illinois Sasek teaches algebra geometry and practical math born in Nebraska taught at State Center Iowa prior to joining 8 H S and has taught Latin and English elsewhere.

Stamp Stampede to Boost War Bonds at S H S Gym

La mub hosts Stamp Stampede this afternoon from 3 to 5 at the S H S gym. Admission is a 10 cent defense stamp and proceeds support the war effort. A floor show directed by Culbertson-inspired students features a Hatchet Dance and Washington crossing Delawares.

For the second semester six assembly programs are set. The Scarlet Pimpernel was shown January 27. The Count of Monte Cristo screens February 25 with Edmond Dantes’s Napoleonic era tale. Apollo Concert Artists visit March 14. J A Zell lectures March 24 on The Dance of Furs. Captain Art Hook discusses Ten Thousand Trips Under the Sea April 8. May 13 closes with Henry VIII’s life in The King of England and Father of Queen Bess.
