FFA Plans Contest Entries for Sectional May 15

The F F A and Illinois F F A Foundation sponsor a contest with thirteen entry fields. Next week the S H S chapter will select sectional entries for the May 15 sectional. Winners advance to district, then state regional and possibly national competition.

May 21 marks the release of the 1951 yearbook with students trading in Blue and Gold books for signatures and sayings. Co editors Kay Eshleman and Roger Ible lead the annual. business manager Ob Mathis oversees operations.

Sterling High Band Prepares Spring Activities and Events

Sterling High's band has a busy slate including April 9 streetlight tribute broadcast on WSDR, an April 23 official opening of a new A and P store, and a Spring Concert the first week of May featuring selections such as South Pacific Smoke Gets In Your Eyes Pomp and Circumstance and possibly Rhapsody In Blue May 4 5 and 6. Glenna Gould Tom Slothower and Gene Day seek scholarships to Indiana University.

Latin Club Plans Banquet For Roman Dinner

The Latin Club met in the cafeteria at 3:35 on March 28 with Nancy Rothstein presiding. A committee of Roger Eshleman Joan Bellmar Charlice Cuyers Trudy Worth Bill Scott and Pat Baird was formed to plan the Roman Banquet. Members showcased talents and refreshments followed before adjournment.

Spanish Club Members Attend I F P A L Convention

Six SHS Spanish Club students attended the Illinois Federation of Pan American Leagues convention at the McCormick YWCA in Chicago on March 31. Jeannie Marshang served as delegate for Ramon Gonzales with about 250 attendees. The program featured a business meeting a luncheon songs by the group a fiesta from South Shore High School slides and travelogue by Prof John Van Horne.

Capa Club Hosts Round Table on Pan American Day

The Spanish Club of Sterling Lee High School met in homeroom with president Don Knight presiding. Nancy Lundquist and Bob Smith led a round table on the Federation of Pan American Leagues convention and April 14 Pan American Day was noted to promote goodwill among American nations.

SHS Spanish Students Enter Contest

SHS Spanish students entered the IFPAL state contest on April 9 and 10. The tests covered dictation and grammar, each lasting thirty five minutes. Three medals will be awarded for first year and three for second year students, the only six state awards in Illinois.
