Surprise party honors Edos James on birthday

A surprise party was held last Tuesday evening for Edos James in honor of her teenth birthday. Refreshments were served for twenty guests. Mrs. Roy Townsend and baby visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Barber, while Roy traveled to Denver to visit his sister, RB Evress of Sen nes.

Local Neighbors Share Travel and Visit Notes

Captain Chester Andrews 90 Remembrance of Civil War Service

Captain Chester Andrews born on a farm near Minonk Illinois enlisted in 1861 as second lieutenant of the 47th Illinois Volunteers. He served under fire forty eight times without a wound and did not reenlist after his term ended in 1864. He married Susan Vir gin Lovejoy in 1865 and had four children, Wells and Charlotte dying in infancy.

Community Fair Exhibits Thrill at Fairbury Event

The playground features splendid live stock exhibits with horses cattle swine and farm products. A grand cornhow and fence work show alongside delicious baked goods and jams. Acts include Arenty Bros. on double perch, Cavilla the clown, Helen Bach Trio, and a Fireworks display. The midway hosts McMahon Shows and rides.

Steele City High School Enrolls Forty With Freshman Growth

The Steele City High School opens with forty students and plans for new arrivals. Last year's juniors return to form a nine member senior class, and sophomores mostly come back. The freshman class grows to fourteen with five from rural districts. One freshman plans to advance to sophomore next year. Several families attend the state fair, and Mrs Wing and her husband visited their daughter in Fairfield.
