Church calendar note for Steele City Presbyterian Church led by Pastor W. W. Pfautz with upcoming services and events.
Steele City will host a four part Lyceum Course this winter via the High School. The first program The Gypsy Girls appears October 30 at the Opera House with vocal and instrumental numbers. Tickets sold by students include vote credits for popular boy and girl in school.
Local representatives Mrs H Manning Mrs C Andrews attend the Nebraska Federation of Women's Clubs convention in Lincoln for Wednesday to Friday this week. Also attending are Mrs Arner Mrs Riddle and Mrs Hoeft. They will report on the convention upon their return.
Mr and Mrs C S Clark and their niece of Fairbury joined Mr and Mrs Fay Clark for dinner with the Carl McDonald family in celebration of Fay's birthday. Sam Friday of Diller and Bert Hughes also attended. Dollie Reynolds of Marysville suffered a broken collar bone and others were badly bruised after an automobile wreck east of Fairbury Sunday night.
A sheriff urges Jefferson County voters to consider his longtime service when casting ballots in the upcoming election. He notes his office consumes much of his time and asks voters to decide based on his past conduct and experience, expressing appreciation and urging everyone to vote.
Community event announces a box supper and plate supper at Dist on Friday night October 29. Men bring pocketbooks and ladies bring pies. everyone invited. Frances Crinklaw, teacher, promotes the gathering.
A fine baby boy was welcomed at the Clyde Packer home on Sunday October 24. Ina Sands is employed there. Mrs. Bracken is listed as sick. C. C. Andrews shipped cars of cattle to Kansas City on Monday. Howard Deems and Miss Blakley of Lewiston Nebraska visited relatives Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dean of Hollenberg spent Sunday with Harold Packer family. Mrs. Edgington had tonsils removed at Lynch hospital in Fairbury. The local RN A held a dime social with season decor, games, and late lunch.
Wm. Barber of Fairbury made a business trip here on Monday. Mr and Mrs Ike Woods and family spent Sunday visiting relatives in Fairbury. Mr and Mrs Cal Whitney and son Bert Miller, Mr and Mrs Frank Manley and Mrs Franzen made a business trip to Wymore Sunday.
Mr. Rolster and Alva Taylor of Fairbury were Steele City callers Monday. A notice seeks two or three schoolgirls to room or board. ltp. Mrs. Alta May Fuqua.
