Mr A D Rough former editor visited Sunday by Chester Wilcox and W C Palmer. Rough resides in Lewiston Nebraska and sends cordial greetings to all Steele City folks.
A concrete sidewalk is laid from the school house front west to the grounds edge and south to the yard edge. The path leaves a missing segment to the park corner, forcing teachers and pupils to wade mud in rain. Completing the walk would prevent wet feet and sickness fears for southwest town children.
Mrs. Alta May Fuqua seeks guardianship or placement for two or three school girls to either room or board.
Tuesday's election concluded an active campaign with a large vote cast. McMullen leads in countywide returns though counties remain incomplete. Newton precinct listed three candidates for county office Cai Clark, W L Woods, Adam Gretzinger. Cai Clark defeated by Kroll. Gretzinger defeated by Woods for county commissioner district 1. A Wednesday morning list shows Republican and Democratic vote tallies for the county.
The document lists candidates for governor secretary of state auditor of public accounts treasurer attorney general and legislative tickets with party affiliations and vote tallies. It also shows county level posts including register of deeds county clerk sheriff and county commissioners with names and vote counts.
The Woman's Missionary Society will meet at Mrs. C Townsend’s home on Wednesday afternoon November 10 at 2 30 sharp. The first chapter will be received by Mrs. Lawe. Members should come prepared to enter into the study. All church ladies and friends are invited. At the October meeting Mrs. Mary Drake presided with sixteen present. Come!
The Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs met in Lincoln with local delegates Mrs C C Andrews Mrs H Manning Mrs Arn er Mrs Hoeft and Mrs Riddle attending. Manning and Andrews will report at the November meeting and the delegates attended a Cornhusker hotel banquet Friday evening. The Steele City Women’s Christian Temperance Union formed September 20 is expanding its activity with a new account of the organization.
