Local notes report births illnesses and travel among Fairbury residents. Details include a new baby born to the Bar Davis home Tuesday night and a mother Mrs I J Frericks who died in Hastings after pneumonia at age 80. Families celebrate anniversaries and visit relatives across nearby towns.
Local Knights of Pythias members traveled to Fairbury last Wednesday to assist in reorganizing the K of P. Steele lodge conferred the rank of page to a candidate. F Reguartte of Grand Island and Grand Prelate F L Brown of Hastings attended, with lodge work performed at Steele City lodge Thursday night.
The picture show drew strong crowds last Saturday night with a special musical act by two colored musicians. Home talent vaude marshal urged patrons to keep aisles clear for safety. Local social notes record visits, birthdays, and a funeral. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Abel of Hooper Nebraska with relatives in Fairbury helping. The Onaway Club met Friday at Mrs. Glen Riddle’s home for bridge and a luncheon. Mrs. G V Casler joined the club.
Mr and Mrs Sampson learned Friday of the death of Mrs Strayer in Atwood Kansas and rushed there by car. Mrs Sampson remained for the funeral and burial occurred at Mahaska cemetery. A second message announced McKinley Sampson's death in Salina. The couple left for Salina Tuesday and burial was held Wednesday at 2 30 p m.
The note from Mr. and Mrs M O Sampson expresses grief and gratitude for friendship, sharing sorrow over the loss of a brother and sister and honoring acts of kindness amid bereavement.
The marriage of Mrs. Etta With of Stesie City and Mr. Chas Hockett of Des Moines Iowa was performed quietly by the county judge at Washington Kansas on Monday November 14. Only her daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Jack Brie attended. The couple will reside in Des Moines Iowa.
Rev. W. W. Pfautz and family report they are comfortably located in Mitchell Nebraska in a new location He is serving as supply pastor until a new church is built or the old one remodeled with a goal of completing the work within a year.
Leona Barber daughter of J. T. Johnston Imperial Nebraska wed Roose velt Luhrs in the furniture and undertaking business in Imperial. The marriage took place on a Monday afternoon about a week prior.
The Ladies Aid Society of Zion Lutheran Church invites all to a Thanksgiving bazaar on November 24 in the church schoolhouse located about 54 miles southeast of Steele City on the state line. Activities run in the afternoon with everyone welcome.

A Friday night card party at the G W Casler home hosted by Edna James featured 6500 and other games. Refreshments were served and guests included Mr Casler Donald Hughes Charles Lowe Lyle Caseell Virginia Hardesty Lucille Taylor Mrs Casler and Edna James.
O Holley of Arcadia and Charley Barber's are mentioned with Mrs James driving down with Holey's in a fragmented note.
The Diller Federated Church choir led Sunday evening worship and were entertained by the Steele City choir after the service. Rev. Taylor, field man for the Presbyterian church, met with the congregation Sunday.
