Local notes report Grace Deems driving a new Ford coupe with other small items. Mrs Lenker roofed her hotel with rubber, Paul Wilcox of Morrowville visits home, and Arlene Outhier visits grandparents in Hollenberg.
Sunday at 11 a m worship honors mothers with special music and a sermon. Seats reserved for mothers oldest and youngest receive flowers. Pastoral note urges reflection on mothers influence and faith with quotes from Lincoln and Pfautz remarks.
C R Bracken longtime Steele City resident and hardware store operator died at his home Friday evening after illness. He lived a life of usefulness, active in church, lodge and community activities. He had been treated in Rochester but did not recover. Sympathy extended to his family.
The Kersting Meat Market changed hands Saturday to Alfred Drexler formerly of Barnston Nebraska. Drexler visited Colorado seeking a site but found nothing suitable. After stopping in town he, aged 80, with wife and child, decided to locate here and plans to expand trade and provide first class service.
A group of eighth graders led by Mrs Lowe hiked after school on Friday evening to a riverbank southeast of Rowed. They spent about two hours exploring wading and playing games. A lunch of oranges bananas cookies sandwiches and baloney followed.
The Steele City Improvement Co held its annual meeting Monday evening electing officers. President F V Lowe Vice President exchequer secretary Geo Patters Treasurer W J Garrett Directors R T Garrett G A Hamley and G h3 Cassell Carl McDonald manager.
Word reached here Tuesday morning that R. C. Pearson, brother of Wm. Pearson of the city, died at his home in San Jose California Tuesday morning. No burial arrangements have been announced.
The Missionary Society gathers at Mrs. Hubert Manning's home on Wednesday May 12. devotional by Mrs Lowe and lessons by Mrs Shultz on Latin America and Mrs Wilfley on Spanish speaking people. All ladies invited. Farmer's Union local holds meeting May 12 at 8 30 p m in the hall. A O Jones field sec of the state and Chris Mills county president speak on the Creamery and cream station proposition. R B Thompson Sec.
