Last Friday evening twelve members of the young ladies Sunday school class surprised Miss Violet Hughes at her home north of town. The party celebrated her birthday with pretty handkerchiefs, games, and music. Refreshments included pineapple fluff with whipped cream, two kinds of cake, and cocoa.
Word reached Mrs Wim Barber that her sister in law Mrs Robert James died after an operation at a Wichita Kansas hospital. The James family, former residents of Steele City, moved to Yuma for years.
