Lantern Fire Destroys Martin Farm Stock and Buildings
A lantern caused a morning blaze at W. J. Martins farm north of the school, spreading from hay to the barn and adjoining sheds. Most stock escaped. one two week old pig died. Loss includes eight tons hay, corn, oats, seed corn, machinery, and tools, valued around $3,000 with $1,700 insurance. Martin plans to rebuild soon. Home Talent Play by K of P Lodge drew $80 receipts before cancellation due to snow and cold with plans to repeat.

Store Fire Destroys Haig General Merchandise Endicott
A fire yesterday morning destroyed the D. Haig store in Endicott, started in the oil room and spreading rapidly. The stock and building were lost, with 86 000 in insurance. The business has been run by Haig’s son and daughter since his death a year ago.

Large Golden Eagle Captured Near Fairbury
A ten pound golden eagle with a seven foot wingspan and three foot body length was trapped ten miles south of Fairbury near the Kansas line by R L Gray. He had set steel traps near a dead hen to catch chicken hawks preying on his chicks the bird was likely a transient seeking food.

Shower honors Enid Justis before wedding to Harold Greenwood
LaRhee Greenwood hosted a miscellaneous shower Friday afternoon February 24 at her home for Miss Enid Justis who will marry Harold Greenwood. Guests drafted their recipes and gifted a basket of presents as refreshment was served. In Friday night games against Alexandria the home girls won 9 to 4 while the boys were outplayed 15 to 1.
