Whitney has repainted his house and barn. Mrs. C. F. Beaver and daughter Redema visited their old home in Barnes Kansas until Tuesday. E. Campbell took John Taylor and family and A. Parrack to Morrowville Monday in the auto. Mrs. Taylor and children stayed for a few days. H. Ellermeier attended a district convention. Rev. Shepard sheen from this one A. P. Purbaugh and Ernest Trumble came in Wednesday evening.

Child Bitten by Snake Near John Shepherd Farm
The 6-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs S Bebee was bitten twice on the leg while picking mulberries near the John Shepherd farm. A rattlesnake is suspected after the dog’s barking drew the child to the area. Dr. Taylor treated her and she was improving by Thursday and considered past danger.

The Epworth League topic for next Sunday evening is The Permanence of Truth citing Dan 12 1 4 and Rev 2 17 with Mr Savage as leader. The Ladies Aid Society met with Mrs Forsha last week with good attendance and quilting. Refreshments of cherry ares marguerites and angel food were served.

School Board Elected and Nine Month Term Set
The annual school meet elected C R Bracken and A D Brown to three year terms, C I Clark to two years, and H E Clapp to one year. Nine months school begins the first Monday in September with $3 500 requested for running expenses. A bond election for 5 000 to fund a new building next year was proposed.

Community backs road work pledge at Wrights Hall
About 75 residents from town and country gathered at Wrights Hall to hear Vine Peas and W F Cramb of Fairbury speak on building and maintaining good roads. Riley and Simkins acted as guards. Peas and Cramb stressed road benefits from study and practice. Fifty signed pledges to contribute cash or labor, with another meeting planned to organize plans.

Death of George Chancellor after May horse accident
George Nelson Chancellor aged 77? no, 1883 birth. died June 21 from injuries suffered May 29 after being thrown from a horse. He married Melvina Bonowitz in 1908. lived in Ericson, Neb. Survived by wife, aged parents, two sisters, three brothers. five sisters preceded him. Funeral at Endicott with Rev. Shepard. burial in Steele City Cemetery.
