Mrs McGreclin returned to Lincoln after visit with sister Mrs Ralph Arner. A M Wilcox left for Culbertson to help harvest wheat. Laona and Russell Staley to Hanover to visit uncle Christie. Mr and Mrs Smith of Baird visiting with parents in town. H H Adee, Mrs C F Scharmann and Mrs Trans Taylor went to Chicago for aunt's funeral. The Fairbury Journal reports Judge Colby, very ill with cancer of the liver and stomach, may never hold court again. If a successor is needed, the appointment would fall to Gov. Charles W. Bryan.
Several families share visits and sick lists as townsfolk exchange weekend and weekday calls. Fred Kenning Jr. cuts oats for John Janssen while Ivan and Lynn Robertson are listed as ill. Visits span spouses and relatives at multiple homes in the community.
Heavy rain left muddy roads and few country attendees at Steele City Presbyterian Church service led by Rev. B. W. Davis. Town residents also stayed away while the pastor was away on vacation. Superintendent Mrs. Lowe and others discussed the county picnic and invited local young people to attend on the 17th.
Plans for an annual Sunday School picnic set for the last Thursday in August. The event features a parade, a top state speaker, several music bands, athletic contests, and a bail game between M. E. and Christian church young men. Everyone is invited to August 28 at the S. S. grounds.
The annual Mission Festival of State Line Lutheran Church is scheduled for July 27 with a morning sermon at 8 00 and an evening service. Rev Michelmann of Grand Island, former president of the Synod, will lead.
