Daughters of Hobby lodge welcomed Mrs. Robt James as a new member with refreshments after the meeting. R N A members, including new inductees Mrs Louis Barber and Mrs Frank Wing, enjoyed ice cream and cake at Waters Cafe. A surprise party honored Mildred Burst on her 14th birthday with games and river trip. Miss Mae Edwards and Mr Jesse Bradshaw wed at the Edwards home in Fairbury with the wedding march.
J W Davis closes meat market. Mrs Will Hoeft visits Diller. Ella Kirby of Wymore visits Mrs M Mitchell. Frank Wing and wife go to Beatrice for a weekend. Miss Emma Harrington of Fairbury visits Mrs P D Earhart. A Patrack and wife from Wy more greet locals. Mr Brown of Lincoln visits daughter Mrs Deets. Walter Wooldridge ill but improving. Rev Goman of Lincoln gives illustrated lecture at railroad park. Chas Hunnicutt and family move to Mountain Grove Mo. G C Taylor ships two cars of new wheat. Wm Barber attends Mae Edwards wedding at Fairbury. Miss Klase of Fairbury visits Mrs R N Millice. Rev Walker attends Masonic lodge in Fairbury. Wm Pearson lays cement walks. E Zoellin does likewise. Mrs E Hamley leaves for Winfield Kansas. Herman Stegeman from near Jansen buys Rev Lavine’s property with possession Oct 1.
Miss Bethel Cole of Diller led a bridal party through a parlor ceremony. The bride wore white crepe de chine with shadow lace. Miss Fern Barber of Steele City wore blue crepe de chine. Mr. John Clare of Fairbury was best man. thirty five guests attended. Refreshments followed. The couple will reside at 1027 H Street, Fairbury after a visit to Springfield, Kansas. She formerly lived in Steele City and has many local friends. The groom works in McDonnell's store in Fairbury.
The village council met Friday night appointing Mrs. Elmer Grieder near Diller. Ed Thrapp and John Hoeft thresh wheat yielding 25.5 and 214 bushels from 60 acres. Births, travels, and visits fill the week as residents attend family events and Scout camp marks its first overnight outing with ten campers in Crinklaw grove.
The Hardware Man advertises July cash prices while they last on items including 9 Ib nails, enamel pails, 14 qt galvanized pails, screen doors, kerosene, motor gasoline, nails, blue cobalt paint, and many household goods with discounts up to twenty percent. J. W. Hicks notes the sale runs for a limited time.
Whitemound Wisconsin merchant W D Magic bought a stock of Chamberlain's medicine to supply customers. After receiving them he fell ill and says one small bottle of Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy was worth more to him than his entire stock. For sale by all Druggists. Ad.
