The community outlines Fourth of July celebrations and a Commercial Club meeting on July 10. Residents urge road weed cutting and tree trimming, note dry state status, and call for traffic safety measures after dark to prevent accidents.
The town plans a 10 30 parade and band concert, followed by an afternoon program with speaker T L Shaffer and a Diller versus Steele City ball game. Prizes in many races and contests are offered by local sponsors including C I Clark and J H Ellermeier. An evening program features C L B Blauser, then a Wrights Hall ball, with good music and orderly fun. Several stands and ice water will be available.
Dollie Reynolds visits aunt near Ellis and Mrs A H Phelps returns from Lincoln. Wheat sale price 68 cents, hail storms damage crops, alfalfa crops expanding, tile replaced on Main Street, school meeting adds eleventh grade with a $3500 levy. Local visits include Mrs Bert Pickering in Omaha and families from Fairbury, Oneida and Steele City.
An old notice attributes stomach troubles to sedentary life poor chewing and overeating. It urges correcting habits and taking Chamberlain's Tablets, claiming one will be well again. The ad mentions sale by all druggists.
W D Magii of Whitemound Wisconsin bought a stock of Chamberlain's medicines to supply customers. After receiving them he fell ill but said one small bottle of Chamberlain's Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy was worth more to him than the cost of all his medicines. For sale by all druggists.
