The house and six acres on the Steele property belonging to W E Willey were sold to R T Garrett on Tuesday. Garrett plans to rent the farm and move to town around March 1. The Willeys have no definite plans, and the residence was built by C I Clark, noted as the largest home in Steele.
The January meeting of the Missionary Society was held January 13 at Mrs. Drake’s home with thirteen members present. Topics included China by Mrs. Lowe and National Missions by Mrs. Manning. A bake sale is planned for January 30 and the next meeting will occur February 10 with Mrs. Earhart presiding.
Office holder W L Woods files to seek reappointment as commissioner. C I Clark joins the county treasurer race. Incumbent E L Jenkins, who has served two terms, is ineligible for a third term as treasurer.
A literary program held Tuesday night January 19 drew a large crowd to the hall. The program featured solos duets and a debating contest between high school students, delivering an entertaining evening.
Steele City high school boys basketball lost their second game at home last Friday night against Reynolds high. Reynolds led 13 points in a low scoring affair.
Rocky Hollow residents report on Charley Wilsons sale held Monday with items selling well. Local births include a daughter to Mr and Mrs Orville Belding born Jan 3 1926. Various neighbors helped with chores and celebrated birthdays and happy surprises with games lunch ice cream and cake.
Mr and Mrs Lioyd Millis of Hebron visited relatives and friends, a brief local social note recording their outing.
