A social gathering at the residence of Mrs. H Manning featured dainty refreshments and cordial hospitality. Guests enjoyed light bites as conversations centered on community affairs and recent events.
Fern McClellan spent the weekend with home folks in Pairbury, sharing time with local relatives and neighbors.
The Lincoln physician contacted last week for the Silkett procedure, with Dr. O Neil and Dr. Johneen managing the case. The report notes the medical team and the operation’s involvement in the patient’s care.
Grace Deems and Miss Jones traveled to Lincoln returning Sunday afternoon. Dr. O Neil reports a birth near town. Steele City girls beat Daykin in basketball while boys lost. Local visits include Baker cousins from Grand Island and Mrs Adams hosting luncheon with a Breele City guest. Ambulance service noted and a new truck built by the county introduced.
Steele City Presbyterian Church schedules weekly worship led by Pastor W. W. Pfautz. Services and events are set to guide parish life and community outreach through the upcoming weekend.

The Building Commission seeks bids for cement blocks in the basement and brick in the chimney. The chimney extends from ground level upward and construction should use good brick.
A Valentine themed surprise party was held last Thursday evening at Paul Hoeft’s home. Guests arrived quietly from the printing office, filled the room, and joined Paul as he opened the door. The event featured games, heart shaped treats, and decorations with a heart center brick ice cream. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Hubert Manning, Mr and Mrs Fay Clark, Mr and Mrs Harold Packer, Mr and Mrs Rupert Hughes, Mr and Mrs Emil Harris, Mr and Mrs Glen Riddle, Mr and Mrs Ralph Amler, Mr Casier, and Floyd Hoeft.
A bake sale is planned at Palmers Cream Station this Saturday with lunch service beginning at 11 30 A M. Proceeds go toward a local cause.
Mrs Anne Margrete Reents died at home southeast of Steele City February 14 1927 at 74 years 5 months 30 days. Funeral held at home then Zion Lutheran Church with Rev Paul Raschke. Interment in family lot north of Dill. Maiden name Nohmann, married John Reents in 1878. six daughters including Katie deceased. Lived in America since 1885, long-time resident of the neighborhood. Survived by husband five daughters five sons-in-law five grandchildren and many relatives. The family thanks neighbors friends choir and those who sent flowers.
Miss Anna Ahrends wedding occurred Tuesday afternoon. An account will be published next week. Mrs Harvey Andrews returned to St. Joe with Mr and Mrs Chester Pearson. Mrs Pearson seeks medical advice for long illness after returning home earlier this week improved.
