Sunday visits and travel notes fill local town pages as Steele City, Diller, and surrounding areas report residents traveling to Omaha Abilene Cameron and Idaho. Included are weathering updates, livestock shipments, a barn fire, school repairs, draft notices, railroad work halts, and cautions about traveling strangers selling dubious goods.
Fern Wade and Ollie Wade were married Wednesday evening at the home of Mr and Mrs William Barber. Rev H B Allen officiated. Nellie Megonigle sang, Amy Palmer played, and guests shared a two course dinner then a lawn reception. The couple plan to live in Imperial Nebraska.
Advertises a Ford car in good condition for sale with contact through John Hoeft Jr. and his father. Also notes a land listing in Fairbury Nebraska offered at quick sale. A lost blue silk coat with satin lining and striped collar is sought. leave at the post office if found near mill dam or R B Thompsons.
Public sale announcement lists 10 horses 5 milch cows farm tools chickens wood and more with a note on Poland China boar pigs ready for fall service. Also advertises Oregon California Railroad grant lands opening homesteads with a large copyrighted land map available postpaid for $1 with contact Portland Oregon.
The long heat spell ended with several showers totaling about two tenths inch. Corn suffered under the drought and heat, with yields reduced by recent hot winds. Joe Dingman of Webster City Iowa reports liver trouble and stomach soreness eased after half a bottle of Chamberlain's Tablets. sold by dealers.
On Wednesday the postoffice fixtures were moved into the new quarters between the lumber yard and the Press office. Postmistress Bessie Ruck er purchased the building, remodel ed and fixed up in nice shape and convenient for handling the work.
An old health note advises regular outdoor activity to keep bowels regular. It recommends a full glass of water before breakfast and plenty of fruit and vegetables, aiming for a daily bowel movement. When medicine is needed, it suggests Erlein's Tablets, claimed to be gentle and effective, sold by all advertisers.
