Jury member R S Wilfley served part of the week while residents visited Washington and Fairbury for social events. Dozens of notices include travel to Hanover and Yuma, a missionary meeting, car sales, and local cattle shipments plus contest standings and theater plans around Haddam and Lincoln.
The W C T U meeting was held at Mrs B Bhaltz home with Mrs Forsha in charge of the Sab bath Observance department program. Read articles made an interesting program and refreshments followed. The article notes flu symptoms and hopes nicer days help.
Mrs Sophia Bloom died after a long illness at her son's home Geo Bloom Monday night aged 84. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev Bruce W Davis officiating. Burial followed in Steele City cemetery beside her husband who died last January.
A well attended joint supper and program by Royal Neighbors of America and Modern Woodmen of America occurred on a Saturday night, March 28. The hour long event featured solos music readings and tableau with talks by district deputies Katie Routt Rust Scott Jordan and Fred Fields. Pies and plates were sold at auction raising funds for local lodge improvements.
The Steele City High Junior class staged the class play A Bunch of Fun at the opera house on Monday night March 30 1925. The fourteen character cast included Rev Crandon DD D Claude Phelps Mary Beulah Barber Martha Hilda Janssen Kristina Marie Thomsen Raymond Hivoting Vera Matherson Mildred Wallace Cecily Moorland Vera Staley Lynn Locky Wilh Abrends Allee Thornton Met nnde Iwekl ford etc.
Steele City Presbyterian Church led by Rev. B. W. Davis lists Sunday School at 10 a m Morning Worship at 11 a m Christian Endeavor 6 30 p m and Evening Service 7 30 p m The preacher notes the new flu variety causes discomfort and distress but is non fatal and that attendance fell this Sunday due to the epidemic.
The attendance contest ended March 29 with the winning team praised as humorous. A reward offered was free admission to the Junior Class Play A Bunch of Fun at the hall Monday night. The church year ends March 29 with enrollments rising, offerings strong, and repairs paid.
